this piece's initial installation at The Tank on 3/9/2019 asked viewers to pull up one of the below videos on their phone, enclose their phone in a plastic bag, and set it down among the maps and books of the installation - creating a collective pop-up multichannel video installation . videos were taken around berlin and tallinn and texts address various frustrations, complications, and contradictions of the contemporary environmental movement.
"The city, however, does not tell its past, but contains it like the lines of a hand, written in the corners of the city... every segment marked in turn with scratches, indentations, scrolls."
-Calvino, Invisible Cities
"That experimental concrete body - holding the Berlin-focused obsessions of two of the city's pre-eminent spectres - envelops the bodies of those momentary nocturnal occupants, so that they inhabit spectral visions."
"What shape does this space have? Try to fit yourself in here in different ways. What could you do here? Change the space according to yourself. Who is the touchstone of architecture?"
"With the Tempelhof terminal building having been carefully disassembled ... Berlin must confront a new absence, a negative form of the former terminal, a vast hole in the city scape, and a hole in the ground."
-Barber, Berlin Bodies
-Explore Space, Eesti Arhitektuurimuuseum
-Brown, Architecture
and the City
